Eva was the sister of our lovely mum, and as youngsters they were very close. Eva was a bright girl and won a scholarship to Putney High School
She was a clippie (bus conductor) during the war and witnessed bombs and destruction first hand. She left for Canada, leaving her family and and starting a new life. She revisited London several times and always was family orientated and we all loved her. She had a remarkable wit and quick smile
Bill and Anne were welcomed by Eva when they lived in Canada, and their son Kevin was born there 50 yrs ago. I've visited twice, once with my sister Margaret and her husband Mick and our mum and then with my daughter Kelly.
Eva and Ray always welcomed us
Such a sad loss of a lovely lady who brought a ray of sunshine to all she met
I've just witnessed the service, so thank you all for sharing

Eva was aunt to the 5 children of her elder sister Ivy (Peter,William,Margaret,Marion and Barbara )
She sent presents each Xmas and we all spent many happy childhood hours doing the giant crossword puzzle in the Star weekly newspaper.
She was a bright student and won a free 11+ scholarship to Putney High school(otherwise fee paying)which gave her an inner confidence .She left school just in time for WW2 and had numerous jobs including as a bus conductress (clippie). She remembered being on her bus when the driver became confused when a V1 engine cut out overhead and the driver went in and out of the bus garage many times before they both abandoned the bus and ran for it.
Eva left as a GI bride in early 1945 but visited the Uk occaisionally .
Bill and Anne emigrated to Canada in 68 and were taken in by Jim & Eva before setting up shop in Kitchener Waterloo. We have many fond memories of them both with Carol/Don /kids on our many trips to Fort Erie.We left in 1971 with extra baggage -Kevin dob in Waterloo on 18/12/70
We all met Ray Matthews with Eva on trips to their roots in the UK and they were very happy together .
Eva was a very graceful lady who battled all her life

I remember Eva from her job at Inesons where she was the most pleasant lady and patient as can be when children came in for their candy. I am so happy she lived to such a great age as I am sure she saw all the worst in England. Rest in peace Eva you certainly deserve it. Our sincere condolences to the family.
