Obituary of Emily Yando

A long life, well lived, came to a peaceful end on September 20, 2016 at Douglas Memorial Hospital in her 90th year. Predeceased by her husband Charlie (2011) and her son Michael (1985), Emily was the devoted mother of Anne (Paul) Bouchard, Beth (Scott) Serada and Mary (Mike) Smith. Loving grandmother of Kathryn, Mike & Dave Bouchard, Michael, Chris & Matt Smith and Michelle (Ray) Turcotte and Justin Serada. Great-grandmother of Hannah and Easton. Sister of Maggie Zacher, Pauline (Ross) Dickey and the late George Seitz (2013) and Dorothy Persoon (1988). Sister-in-law of Theresa Jones and Donna Seitz. Emily was an active and long-time member of St. Michael's Church, serving in many ministries, and a life member of the Catholic Women's League. Emily's cheerful disposition and smile endeared her to everyone she met. Emily excelled at handicrafts of all kinds, especially her cards. But Emily's greatest joy was her family. Our mother was, and always will be, loved for her joy, her inspiration, her relentless optimism and her unconditional love. The family invites you to celebrate a wonderful life devoted to family, faith and being of service to others. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave Fort Erie, entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 25th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church on Monday morning at 11:00 with Reverend Patrick Gilmurray officiating.
