Obituary of Albert Valvo
VALVO, Albert Vincent
Passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Douglas Memorial Hospital. Beloved husband of the late Betty (2003)
Cherished father of Robin (Ray) Vassallo. Proud grandfather of Karrie (Jon) Matyjas and Rebecca (Patrick) Sandel and cherished great grandfather of Taylor and Kameron Matyjas, Kristine, Alyssa and Ryan Sandel.
Sadly missed by nieces and nephews, Len O’Sullivan, Gayle King, Wendy Valvo, Rick Valvo and their families. Albert was also known as “Uncle Al†to many, if not all, of his daughter’s friends.
Predeceased by his parents Leonard and Catherine Valvo and siblings, Russ (Dorothy), Ross (Dolores) and Flo (Pat).
Albert was born and raised in Fort Erie. He was blessed with many dear friends and was always ready to share a story and a few laughs. His last several weeks were not what we would have wished for such a kind and gentle man, but because of daily visits from friends and family, and especially Mae, Al and Vince, who loved him dearly, he managed to always be positive and optimistic.
Albert and his zest for life will be missed by all who knew him, but we have comfort knowing that he is now with his beloved Betty who he shared over 60 years with.
Thank you to so many wonderful friends and family members these past trying few days. Your loyalty and love for Albert was a true testament to him and the legacy he leaves behind. Special thanks to Dr. Che and Dr. Scher and the most amazing nurses and support staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital. Your kindness and gentleness will always be remembered.
Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Road, Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. At Albert’s request, there will be no visitation. A Funeral Mass to honour his life will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, 310 Central Avenue, Fort Erie.
Albert was a member of St. Michael’s Parish his entire life and was devoted to his faith and his church. To honour his memory and in lieu of flowers, if so desired a donation to St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church Building Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by his family.
