Obituary of Susan Aleida Salzer
Salzer, Susan Aleida (nee Reddick)
Sue Salzer, age 75, of Fort Erie, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on November 24th, 2018. Susan was born in Smith Falls, Ontario to William and Theodora Reddick on July 2nd, 1943. She graduated from the University of Guelph in 1965 and then moved to Welland in 1966 to raise her family. She and her husband, Joe Salzer, relocated to the town of Fort Erie, where she has lived for 30 years. Sue had a passion for community organization, and most notably was pivotal in founding the Friendship Festival and Yellow Shirt Brigade to save the local hospitals.
Susan Salzer is predeceased by her husband, Josef Salzer and her parents. She was a devoted wife and daughter. She will be dearly missed by her sister Mary Reddick of Fort Erie, daughters Jodi Dockman (Scott Wade) of Whitby, Michele Staples (Greg) of Welland, Samantha Gillam (Kevin) of Saucier, Mississippi, her grandchildren Alyssa, Matthew, Madison, Ellie and Graeme and her dear friend Carol Lawley.
Sue lived her life always promoting the care and love of animals and she was a caring owner of many dogs over the years. We ask that any donations be made to the Fort Erie SPCA for animal protection.
Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., entrusted with arrangements. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Thursday November 29th, followed by a short service in the chapel at the funeral home.
