Obituary of Edward Winter

It is with much sadness we announce the death of our beloved father, Edward Robert (Ted) Winter. Ted was born to Edward and Phyllis Winter (deceased) and grew up in Welland, later moving to Port Colborne where he was employed at Inco. Ted married Eleanor Saylor (deceased) and Sophie Staples (deceased). He enjoyed family life and was always known for his sense of humour, poems he would recite and songs he would sing, as well as his sharp wit. Ted was a fierce animal lover and like his mother before him rescued the neighbourhood strays. In earlier days he was known to tear up the dance floors with many waiting in line for the next dance with him. He will be sadly missed by his children John Staples, Cathy Winter, Robert Winter, Laurie Stapes (deceased) and Timothy Staples, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Ted's brothers John, Albert, and Joe Winter. Predeceased by sisters Joyce, Faye, Joan and brother, Kent. Arrangements have been entrusted to Benner Funeral Services (1105 Benner Ave). If desired, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
