Obituary of Frederic Cornelius Rol

ROL, Frederic (Fred) Cornelus - Early Sunday November 13, 2011, at Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie, Fred passed away at the age of 78 with family at his side. He is survived by his daughter Kathryn Jane (Jane). Beloved husband of the late Enid Dorothy (Gould) and brother of Conrad. He is predeceased by his brothers Peter and Jerry. Fred will be missed by his many nieces and nephews and his extended family members; including those in B.C. and the Netherlands that he discovered as an adult. He will also be missed by his close companion Leanna Thomson and her family. An avid historian and former naval air reserve (VC920) observer's mate, Fred was actively involved in efforts to preserve Canada's naval air heritage through research and projects; including work on the restoration of Fairey Swordfish HS469. The aircraft is currently housed at the Shearwater Aviation Museum. Fred will be remembered fondly by his friends and family. As per Fred's wishes, there will not be a formal service.
