Obituary of Vito Gennard Giampaolo

GIAMPAOLO, Vito - Surrounded by the love of his family, Vito passed away at Woolcott Wing, of the Welland Hospital on April 25, 2018 at the age of 84 after a courageous battle with Guillain Barre Syndrome. He was born in Accadia, Foggia, Italy. Loving husband of Maria. Proud father of Lucy (Mike) Barnes, Frank (Juliann) Giampaolo and Domenico Giampaolo. He was a proud Nonno who leaves wonderful memories with his grandchildren Isabella, Oliver, Alex, Frankie and Gianna. Also, survived by his brother Angelo (Silvana) Giampaolo and siblings Nino (Julianna) Giampaolo and Menia (Antonio) Scerra of Italy. Vito worked for the Niagara Catholic School Board for over 25 years as a caretaker, retiring from St. Philomena. He was a long standing member of the Italo Canadian Club in Fort Erie, where he enjoyed numerous nights volunteering in the kitchen for many charity pasta nights. He was a devoted man to his family and friends and a strong faithful man. His strength, courage and love for his family will always be in our hearts. We would like to thank Juravinski Hosptial and Welland Hospital staff in ICU, Dr. Makar and especially the staff in the Woolcott Wing for the love, support and care they provided Vito with during his difficult and lengthy stay. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Fort Erie on Tuesday, May 1st, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Rite of Committal at Pleasantview Mausoleum, Fonthill.
