Obituary of Doreen Alice Angles

Doreen Alice Angles (nee: Udell) (known to some lovingly as Dube). On October 12th, 2017 at the age of 87 in declining health for a number of years Doreen was no longer able to battle heart failure. Doreen's intense love and warm heart will be sadly missed by her daughter Hera Neal, son in law Rob, her "babies" Mitchell and Seneka, and her too many to list friends. She is survived by her brother and sister Donald (Sonja) and Donna Udell. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold and son Tracy. She loved her family, her friends, and her life! Born in Niagara Falls Doreen thoroughly loved the town of Fort Erie, enjoying a sense of belonging and acceptance since her arrival in 1972. Her relocation allowed her a new career selling real estate and often commented that she enjoyed it to the extent that it never seemed like work at all. Doreen was known to take clear stances on issues and offered a significant amount of her life and time in the pursuit of social justice with emphasis and passion for Women's Rights and Health Care. Doreen served on and chaired the Douglas Memorial Hospital Board and was instrumental in designing and executing the annual Douglas Memorial Golf Tournament/ Fundraiser. She was a philanthropist contributing time and/or money to those that crossed her path in dire need as per her perception. She was an advocate and instrumental in raising funds for the YMCA, which resulted in the success of its creation. She was an avid, energetic member of the former Fort Erie branch of the Business and Professional Womens' organization, in constant pursuit of adding to its membership. She loved big and hated big but mostly she loved big. She was a feisty mentor, known for imparting wisdom and sage advice. With a subdued sense of humour she had a high spirited approach to life which brought to her a myriad of loving friends each of whom her family wishes to recognize for their time and attention as she proceeded towards life's inevitable ending. Health issues challenged Doreen and she and her family are grateful and appreciative of the many years of excellent care and love she received from both Doctors Alison MacTavish and YK Chan. Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Tuesday October 17th from 6-8. Funeral Services will be held at St. Paul's Anglican Church on Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock.
