Obituary of Lavinia Bonito
Lavinia Bonito (Nee DiGiorgio)
It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dearly loved mother, Lavinia Bonito (nee DiGiorgio) on Monday November 11th, 2013 in her 94th year and with her family by her side at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. We are consoled in knowing that there was a great party in heaven where she was greeted by her beloved husband Isidoro (1970), her cherished daughter Lena Vassallo (2005) as well as her dearest sister Maria (2011) and brother in law Carmelo Cottone (2002), and her loving parents Francesco and Pasqua and her infant brother Simone. She is the cherished mother of Alba (Filippo) Bravoco, Michael (Susan) Bonito and Lori Bonito (Terry Harford) and mother in law of Ray (Robin) Vassallo, as well as the precious sister of Antonio (Mary) DiGiorgio. She will be sorrowfully missed by her cherished nephew Vincent Cottone, who she was so lucky to have had as her devoted caregiver in her final years for which we are forever grateful. She was a beautiful and loving Nonna and will be painfully missed by her grandchildren Joseph (Nada) Bravoco, Dori (Joe) Oppedisano, Gregory (Jennifer) Bonito, Courtney Bonito, Christopher Vassallo (Ryann Fossett), Nicole Vassallo (Mike Van Koughnett), Brianna Harford and Christian Harford. She found much joy in her great grandchildren, Sebastian, Kayla, Chloe, Alessia, Julian, Jordan and Caitlyn and was awaiting with much love the birth of Nicole and Mike's first child in January. She is also survived by her loving niece Diana (Al) Gunn and their children Natalie and Michael as well as her dear friend and cousin Lavinia Giampaolo and many other loving cousins and family members in Canada, the United States and Italy. We would like to thank the Emergency Room staff at GNGH for providing our mother with a comfortable and peaceful place for her journey home.
