Obituary of Walt Henning

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Walter James Henning at the Douglas Memorial Hospital in Fort Erie on November 10, 2024 in his 77th year.

Beloved husband and best friend of Patricia (Tipler), and loving stepfather to Janine Woronchak, Danielle Schmidt (Mike) and Jason Maurier (Jesslyn). Grandpa Walt to Brittany (Doug), Tiffany, Eliana, Owen and Caroline. Brother to John (Joyce), George (Joanne), Lillian (Terry), Dave (Jan) and Sharon, and uncle to several nieces and nephews.

Walt worked at Fleet Industries for many years. In his spare time, he liked to build projects, putter in his garage, and tinker with anything mechanical. After playing hockey for many years he started to enjoy riding his bicycle with the Niagara Freewheelers Bicycle Club in the summers, and spending winters in Florida. Walt was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be missed.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Road in Fort Erie. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to visitation on Thursday November 14, 2024 from 6 pm to 8 pm and the funeral service will be Friday November 15, 2024 at 11:30 am at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, and would be appreciated by his family.
