Obituary of Mervin Winfield
WINFIELD, Mervin Frederick- "Swervin' Mervin" passed away peacefully at Villa de Rose Retirement Home on Saturday November 2nd, 2024 at the age 86. Beloved husband of the late Ilean (nee Woodcock) for 59 years. Dear father of Dwayne (Darlane), Ken (Barb) and Kevin (Jackie). Cherished grandfather of Roger, Kyle, Katelyn (Matt), Chase (Carolina). Adored great-grandfather of Jaydin, Jazlynn, Luke, Gianna and Fiona. Mervin is also survived by his step-grandkids, Jaimee, Charity (Glen), Dustin (Kristen), Crystal, and their families as well as his sister-in-law Marion Woodcock, and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Mervin's biggest passion was stock car racing. "#82" was involved in racing as early as a teenager. After 30 plus years of being a stock car driver, he continued to enjoy the races and being a part of the racing community, until his health declined last year. He also loved going up North and fishing with his wife Ilean. In his younger years, Merv also loved driving and racing snowmobiles. "Live life like it's the last lap".
Benner Funeral Services, 1105 Benner Avenue in Fort Erie, has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. Cremation has taken place, and visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday November 16th 2024, from 11 am to 1 pm, followed by a service in the chapel. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society, and would be appreciated by Merv's family.
