Obituary of Gloria Leslie Leahey

Gloria Leslie Leahey (nee Campbell) passed away peacefully at the Woodlands of Sunset Nursing Home in Welland, Ontario on Tuesday July 16th, 2024.

She celebrated her 95th birthday just two days prior, surrounded by her husband and immediate family, including her first great grandson, Theo Gibson Waring (born May 26th, 2024).

Gloria was born on July 14th, 1929 in Toronto. In her early career, she worked for the Royal Bank of Canada and later for Towers Department Stores. This latter position often included travelling across Canada, assisting in the setting up and opening of new stores.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband David Wilson Leahey. The couple met and married in Toronto on October 3rd, 1953, celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary last October.

She will be dearly missed by all her family. Loving mother to Mark (Aine), Scott (Julie) and Tracy (Todd). Grandmother to Bronwen (Zack), Andrew (Dana), Nicholas (Christy) and Connor. Great Grandmother to Theo.

Gloria is survived by her three sisters, Bernice (Wayne), Nancy (Jim) and Marsha (Danny), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also a loving mother to her beloved dogs; Toby, Darby and Duffy.

A small gathering will be held for family and friends at the Benner Funeral Home, 1105 Benner Avenue, Fort Erie, Ontario, on Wednesday, July 24th 2024, between 1 and 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodlands of Sunset Nursing Home, and would be appreciated by her family. Donation envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
