The Brown family has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Even as I write this, I look out the window and see the familiar, welcoming home that hosted us all over the years. Your mom had enough kids to keep her busy, yet always housed 3-5 Blisses at any given time. We may have heard her ask us to keep it down, likely when us girls were upstairs laughing while playing LIFE and the boys were downstairs blasting ACDC, Queen and Boston - replicating sound effects from every Western and War movie they had seen. There were always kids runing around the back deck and forest, weaving in and out while she tended her garden or placed out dishes for her cats -Tangy, Blackie, Fluffy are the ones I remember. Despite a full station wagon, on many a summer day, she and your Dad squeezed in a few more kids for the trip to Crystal Beach. She would serve us chips (that always ended up with sand in them), drinks (Freshie?) and sandwiches. I do remember her laugh. I can't remember her reaction as the kids built multiple forts - lumber, saws, hammers and nails (ypu know, typical kids toys) and a 9 hole mini put out back. The path to our houses is no longer worn, but the memories are forever in my heart. We will laugh and tell stories about our wonderful 70s childhood before technology and tablets, with scraped knees, adventures and games that required team-work and self-mediation when not all of the 20-30 neighborhood kids agreed. All of our parents were part of that, whether they wanted the responsibilites of all the extra kids or not. Your mom was kind of a legend that way. Rest in peace Mrs. Brown.
Thank you for supporting the lifelong friendships us Blisses have with the Browns. We had it good!
Love you all.

Cookie and family - you know, my most vivid memory of your mom, although she seemed stern while we invented some new way to create havoc, was her smile. Not lots of smiles, but the most genuine and face-lighting-up sort of smile. Mrs. Brown had love, and that smile beamed love like crazy. Thanks, Mrs. Brown, for letting us be and letting us grow in your back forest under your watchful eye yet doing our own thing. Praying for you and family, Cookie (aka David).

I was deeply saddened by the passing of my dear cousin Babsy. It's been many, many years since we've seen each other. However our early years were full of joy and happiness. The holidays, family visits and outings that we had were always joyful and full of fun. My heart felt sympathies and love to all her family. My God bless my cousin Barbara.

Becky, Beth and family.
I am so sorry to have learned of your mom's passing. As you know, I had the pleasure of knowing your mom from Garrison Place, twice. Such a lovely lady. And she sure did love her cats, something she and I shared.
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Beck and Family, Please know how sad I am for your loss. Although having known Becky for years, I am thankful that I was allowed to spend some time wth Barbara after she moved into Garrison Place. We often said that we would take a trip together as I know her love of travel was as large as mine. My thoughts are with you all during this time. Tracey

Being First Cousins on our mother's side we grew up together. I liked going to her house as a child and playing. She liked ballerinas and made many drawings. I admired Barbara's beautiful thick curly hair and outspoken personality. I think she corrected being an only child by surrounding herself with four children. We stayed in touch over these many years including a wonderful visit by her and my other cousin Louise after I moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Will miss calling and checking in. Condolences to your children.
