Obituary of Rita Marguerite Hornby

Surrounded by family, Rita Marguerite Hornby (neé Charlebois), 98, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on October 2nd, 2023.  Predeceased by her daughter Tracey and husband Bud (Albert), Rita is survived by her children Wendy Fietta (Gino), Nancy Cooper (Jim), Kay Boutin (Larry), Grant Boutin (Mischelle), Darcey McNaul (Phil), daughter of her heart Lezlie Harper, and eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Known as "GG" to her great grandchildren, she will be dearly missed.  Rita was a true community champion who spent many years volunteering and fundraising for community groups like the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Fort Erie Conservation Club, the Friendship Trail Society, Gilmore Lodge, and others. Rita's family offers thanks and gratitude for the excellent care provided by Doctor Scher, Doctor Henry and the incredible and compassionate staff at Gilmore Lodge as well as for the pastoral care provided by family friends Rev Martha J. Lockwood and Rev. Doryne Levere, Father Patrick Gilmurray, Rev Dan Bennett. A celebration of life will be held for Rita at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fort Erie Conservation Club will be appreciated.
