As Rick's sister-in-law, I visited he and Nan numerous times over the years, more frequently after Rick's cancer diagnosis. I was impressed by his great intellect, and his passionate pursuit of numerous interests and hobbies. I especially enjoyed sharing our WORDLE solutions every morning for over two years - the last exchange on September 14th! This past June, Rick completed a very complex wooden model pinball machine - complete with flashing lights, buzzers, and music. There were over 500 pieces to assemble, and 60 pages of instructions!
Rick was an avid gamer. Every Monday and Saturday evening, he played online cooperative games with his grandson and nephews - right up to September 18th from his hospital bed!
In 2021, he and Nancy moved into Rick's dream home, and his keen decorating expertise transformed their new house into an inviting home. The final touch - on July 1st of this year - was placing a large rock with a Canadian flag flying overhead in the front yard - accomplished with the help of his good friend Carl.
I will miss Rick for many reasons, but perhaps - most of all - for the great morning conversations we had about anything and everything. You are gone but the wonderful memories will live on.

I was very sad to learn of Richard’s illness and passing. I have many lovely memories of the Kellaways. Our families go way back to our original houses on Douglas St. My mom and dad were quite fond of Richard and always made sure to catch me up when they ran into him. They were very pleased when he became their mailman. Condolences to his wife Nancy and to his sisters MaryLou and Nancy. RIP Ruchard

To Nancy and Richard’s family my sincere condolences on such a great loss.
My first contact with Richard was a business one and over the years he has been a great support and friend to me. Nothing was ever too much trouble when I had computer aggravations. He went out of his way to give me immediate service and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him to fix the issues. His sense of humour and enjoyment to life was amazing. And he must have been a “cool” grandpa in his love of setting up computer games for his grandchildren
Richard fought the cancer with a great deal of positivity ,bravery, courage and in the end acceptance and I really admired him for that
Richard you will be missed by so many

In 1967 Richard and I went to Expo 67 in Montreal. We stayed with Richard’s lovely Aunt Nelly. We were reminiscing about that trip about a month ago. In a text Richard said “That was an amazing trip. Still remember when were in queue and you turned around and punched me in the mouth” What he did not mention while standing in line for Canada 67 a film featuring the RCMP musical ride Richard attempted to pick my pocket as a joke. I apologized yet again and Richard said “hahahaha I deserved it.” Later on while speaking on the phone he said “If everyone was like you the world would have no pickpockets”.

Richard always had a smile and a warm welcome whenever we saw him. This hadn’t changed since many years ago in High School and even Elementary School! A longtime friend, gone too soon.
Sending condolences to the entire family.
