I had first met Val in the summer of 1982. This Obit came as a shock to me, I had not realized she was that ill. We had not kept in touch.
For many years we worked closely together in the food industry. She was a tireless, wonderful, dedicated, loyal young Lady that was always in my heart.
I met her parents only once & immediately could connect the dots on how her disposition came to be.
We drifted apart in later years. Due to changes that took place in our respective Companies & promotions. Val on behalf of Rich's Foods & with their total support went over & above to support my efforts within my own organization.
Val has always been in my heart & mind, she never left me, circumstances did!!!!!

So sorry to hear about Val. I worked with Val for 10 years at Rich’s. She was one of the first associates to welcome me and support me. Val and I worked closely together, often travelling to various customers across Canada. I will always remember Val as the friendly, giving and supportive person that she was.

As the family gathers together to celebrate the gracious and giving life of Val, please know I am keeping you all close to my heart. I am so sorry not to be with you to remember what an adventurous spirit and fun-loving mindset she had. Val travelled the world and seemed to enjoy the local cuisine everywhere - no matter how exotic! I cannot help but think of the old farm on Pettit Road where we all were lucky to gather and share delicious food and warm company. I truly believe that the kindness of our elders, their strong faith, their sense of family, their welcoming smile, all of the essence of that generation, it flows through us still. And for that, I am truly grateful. Be well, my family. I love you all. Cheers to you Val! I hope you are wrapped in the warm embrace of all the spectacular family and friends who have gone before - especially your dad who had the kindest heart of all.

We were so very saddened to hear of Val's passing. We had the pleasure of knowing her at St. John's United when we joined a few years ago. I was in the choir and it was a lot of fun getting together after practice at Tim's and the many parties we had. She was a talented knitter, quilter and every year the kitchen of the church would have the wonderful aroma of homemade jams that she sold at the Christmas bazaar, or many dinners, I was part of the church board and Val knew the whole history on the little church and how to balance the books to the penny. She is someone that everyone cared for so much with her happy personality and it's a pair of shoes that will be extremely hard to fill. RIP Val, you will be missed by all who had the pleasure to call you friend. Sincere regards, Marilyn and Owen Calhoun
