Obituary of Lois Ellen Payne

Payne, Lois Ellen (nee Duffy)

Peacefully with her family by her side Lois passed away Sunday December 4th 2022 at Douglas Memorial Hospital. Lois is predeceased by the love of her life and soulmate Robert (Bob) Payne (2012). Loving and devoted mother of Mark (Linda) Prince, Kelley Ann (Dean) Stewart, James "Jay" Payne, Marni (Brian) Gauthier. Fabulous Nana to Douglas (Tiffany) Stewart, Daniel (Allison) Stewart, Drew (Jessica) Gauthier, Julia Gauthier. Proudest Granny to Cobain, Emily, Ozzy and Sebastian. Sister to Irene (Gary) Hoadley and sister in law to Ronald (Joy) Payne. Lois is predeceased by her first love and husband Frank Prince (1962), her parents Hugh and Marjory Duffy, brothers Kenneth and Donald. Lois is lovingly remembered by all of her nieces and nephews.

Lois worked for many years at TD Canada Trust Fort Erie Branch. She also served the community as a member of the Fort Erie Kinettes and the Canadian Cancer Society.  Once her and Bob retired they joined the Peninsulaire’s Camping Group and travelled with their trailer seeing all of Canada and close to all of the United States.

The family is so grateful for her health team of Dr. Kim Scher, Paramed nurses Elizabeth, Tanya and Rebecca along with her PSW girls Shanti, Amanda, and Janice. Huge thank you to the nursing team at DMH for their excellent care of mom these last few days.

Benner Funeral Services entrusted with arrangements. The family will receive friends on Thursday December 8th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A chapel service will be held at the funeral home on Friday December 9th at 11:00 AM. If desired donations close to Lois’s heart are the Douglas Memorial Hospital Palliative Unit and Ronald McDonald House Canada.
