Gerda passed away peacefully at the Douglas Memorial Hospital on May 25, 2022 at the age of 94. Born in Berlin Germany she immigrated through Nova Scotia in 1953, settling in Fort Erie. She met her loving husband Donald and enjoyed 65 wonderful year of marriage until his passing in December of 2021. Gerda’s life was dedicated to her family. Always there to support Don in his endeavors. Her daughter Susan (Brent) Murdoch, 2 grandsons, Dylan (Danielle) and Tyler (Bryan) as well as great grandson Alexander provided Gerda with endless opportunities to give and receive support, and endless love which she did without hesitation and always with a smile.

After Don retired they spent many winters going to St. Augustine Florida where the family would often go to visit. This is where Gerda (aka Weggie) started her singing and dancing at the Oasis to the song “Pretty Woman”. This left a lasting memory for all her family.

The family is grateful for the exceptional care provided by the First Responders, Dr. Scher and the dedicated staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
