Auntie Sue became my Aunt through the marriage of her nephew Donald. She was always generous to us and to all four of her great nephews and niece. Some of our fondest memories were in her garden. Children picking strawberries cherries and peas. We always went home with goodies. Her homemade raspberry juice was a delight and sitting in the garden and talking was so peaceful. She never forgot a Birthday or Christmas. I am sad to see her go. I am forever grateful that I held her hand and kissed her face many times in these lasts months. With Love Belinda Mackenzie and Family ❤️❤️❤️

Auntie Sue (Twoosie), it’s hard to put into words what you have meant to me. I will always cherish our visits. You were soft spoken, but always thoughtful and generous. I’m glad you got to meet my daughter and see me grow up. I just feel fortunate to have known you. Love Anne

What can you say about a relationship that has lasted your whole lifetime and is now severed by death and leaves a hole in your life, I will miss my Aunt Sue. Some comfort for our loss is we have memories of our dear Aunt. I would like share some of my special memories.
Aunt Sue followed baseball was a huge Blue Jay fan, she enjoyed watching figure skating competitions on TV, she enjoyed birdwatching , she enjoyed gardening, playing card games (taught me Cribbage), she enjoyed talking politics local and national( always a spirited conversation) and she loved her three sons. She was not one to brag about the boys but she would share or show us the latest creative endeavors of my cousins, like Bob’s photography in the yearly calendars.
Some of my fondest childhood memories include visiting Aunt Sue’s house which was always interesting. First, I must give her Kudos for welcoming five of us, rambunctious nieces & nephews into her quieter home. The backyard garden was a source of fun whether it was rolling or running down the slope in the yard, getting a ride on the rope swing, watching vast variety of birds at the feeders and birdbath or watching my older cousin John hand feed a squirrel peanuts, all which brought small delights to small children.
Aunt Sue’s garden held many tasty delights we enjoyed fresh from the garden strawberries, raspberries, cherries, plums and sweet peas. She patiently taught us how to move in the garden, so we wouldn’t trample anything and showed us how to pick strawberries and raspberries. Then the best part was when we got to enjoy what we picked. Sue’s homemade raspberry juice(concentrate) diluted with ginger ale or water, was a special drink and was refreshing on hot summer’s day. After I got married, she would give me a bottle of raspberry juice and her delicious cheesecake squares for Christmas every year. The garden was a bonding experience that would continue into my adulthood. Around the kitchen table there was talk about how to do canning, make jams and sauces with the bounty from our gardens.
My daughter Anne now grows her own garden, she freezes and cans her garden bounty. Her daughter 18month old daughter Evelyn (Aunt Sue’s, great, great niece) digs in the garden with her Mom and Evelyn’s favorite fruit is raspberries.
My two daughters (Sue’s great nieces) growing up enjoyed our visits with Aunt Sue and she enjoyed them as they grew up. My children would color pictures when we were visiting and give them to Sue. To my surprise she kept them. Recently Sue gave the pictures to my Mother who gave them to me, I couldn’t believe she kept them, my children are now in their thirties. It warms my heart to know she cherished those simple little love tokens from my small children. It made us feel loved by Aunt Sue.
I will especially miss all the visits and chats with my Mother, myself and Aunt Sue around Sue’s kitchen table over cups of tea and something sweet. We should value the simple delights life has to offer especially during this pandemic I just want to thank my Aunt Sue for sharing her simple delights with me and my family.
With Love,
Heather

She was a good sister and there for me when I needed her the most. She took care of me and my brother John when I was very young along with my sister Annie. She is going to be missed all who knew her. She will be missed by her nephews and nieces who would go to her house to pick strawberries, raspberries, cherries and peas. Such a great memory.
Love your sister, Mary
