Obituary of Audrey Maskell
Audrey passed peacefully at Douglas Memorial Hospital with her devoted children, Sharon, Brian and Marilyn at her side. Audrey is reunited with her loving husband of 73 years, Ernie Maskell who passed away in September 2015. Audrey loved life with her family Sharon Taylor (Bud), Brian Maskell (Kim), & Marilyn Fox (George) and her daughter in law Grace. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Brad (Julia) & Brent; Scott (Diana), Shannon (Ryan), & Sean; and her seven great-grandchildren. Audrey grew up in Ridgeway, Ontario and in 1942 she married the love her life, Ernie Maskell. Audrey and Ernie settled permanently in Fort Erie in 1945. In 1955, Audrey and Ernie moved into their home at 256 Highland Avenue where she spent the next 58 years hosting family and friends and ensuring that everyone left happy and well fed. Audrey was a member of Central Avenue United Church and was an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society. Audrey enjoyed playing the piano, painting and golfing. A competitive card player, Audrey loved spending time with family and friends around a game of cards and was in a regular bridge league. Two years ago, Audrey & Ernie moved into Garrison Place and were cared for by an attentive staff and empathetic Dr. Scher who also attended to Audrey along with the palliative care staff at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
Benner Funeral Services 1105 Benner Ave., Fort Erie, entrusted with arrangements. Audrey's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday March 3rd from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday morning from 10-11 o'clock followed by a service in the chapel. A reception will follow and then interment will take place at McAffee Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
