Obituary of David Niznik
It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Stanley David (Dave) Niznik at the age of 78 after along and courageous battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, August 23, 2020.
He is survived by his loving wife Brenda (Seabrook) Niznik of 56 years, loving father of Mark Niznik, Gord Niznik (Laura), and Nancy O’Connor (Shawn).
He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren,Kyle, Ashley, Hannah, Jesse, Jack, Myles, Rachel and soon-to-be great grandchild, Elaine.
Dave will also be sadly missed by his brother Harry(Shellee) Niznik and sister Patricia Yankovich. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Bonnie Morkem, and all of his many nieces and nephews. Dave was predeceased by his parents, Stanley Niznik and Hazel (Conley) Niznik and his younger brother Doug Niznik.
Dave grew up in Port Colborne, Ontario and attended Port Colborne High School, Acadia University, and Erie County Technical Institute. He was employed at Fleet Industries in Fort Erie for many years in tool design, and at Bell Aerospace. He was also co-owner of Seabrook’s Farm Produce in Ridgeway, Ontario.
Dave was an eager participant and fierce competitor in many sports in high school and university. At Acadia he played football, hockey and track and field. In 2005, Dave was honoured by being selected to the All-Decades Football Team of the 1960s.
Throughout his life his passion was snowmobiling.He would spend many hours blazing the trails in Northern Ontario and Quebec. He was usually the leader of the pack. Dave also loved to play cards and golf. He belonged to the local Euchre club and various golf leagues.
Dave was a proud life-time member of the Stevensville Kinsman Club where he developed many life-long friendships. He was always willing to support the local communities in their many endeavours. When not spending time with family, you would usually find Dave tinkering around in the garage fixing things, working on projects, and creating cherished gifts for his beloved family. He was affectionately called “Papa Bear, the Inventor” by his grandchildren.
After retiring, Dave and Brenda took many fantastic trips in their motorhomes. They travelled all over Canada and the United States from coast to coast visiting several of their favourite National Parks. They would always hit the road singing Willie’s, “On the Road Again!”
Dave will be sadly missed by all his friends and family until they meet again.
